Concurrent Operation of Hydrogen Stations with Different Types of Fuel and Different Methods - The First Demonstration Study in the World.

As a major activity of JHFC project, eleven hydrogen stations were constructed and have been operated in the Tokyo metropolitan area / Chubu region / Kansai region. Hydrogen is produced by reforming*1 a wide variety of fossil fuels such as gasoline, naphtha, LPG, methanol and natural gas, or by water electrolysis or purification of COG*2.These hydrogen infrastructures have been evaluated in the real world through refueling of hydrogen to FCVs and ICVs.

*1 Reforming:Process to convert a fuel into hydrogen
*2 COG:By-product hydrogen produced in the process of converting coal into coke for iron making:Coke Oven Gas
